The Surf Club is a proposed condo-hotel at the site of the historic Surf Club located at 9011 Collins Avenue in Surfside.

    The site plan includes:

A 285 unit condo hotel including a gourmet specialty food product store, a five-star hotel and spa, roof top decks, pools, 661 parking spaces.

There will be three 12-story buildings on the east side of Collins Avenue, and two four-story buildings on the west side of Collins Avenue.

    ____________

    Earlier:

Members of the Surf Club have accepted an offer to sell for $116 million. There were multiple offers on the club, all of which were unsolicited.

The buyer is Turkish multinational conglomerate Koc group, which is based in Istanbul. Koc had $38 billion in annual revenues last year.

The club is 6 acres, but designated as historic which will hinder development. Additionally, Surfside has a strict 12-story height limit.

The Surf Club was built in 1930 and designed by architect Russell Pancoast.

  7. I love this. The beautiful contrast between historic and ultra-contemporary architecture.
This is what EnV could have been. I didn't realize it would look so good.
  8. http://goo.gl/maps/RiAzx I've lived in Miami all my life and would drive through Collins constantly, and I never knew that was there! Who thought of building that wall and that ugly blocky concrete building around it? What's up with those ugly concrete box buildings from the 50's. I hope they never become historically significant!

The Surfside planning and zoning board did approve it with some changes, but it still needs to appear before the Surfside commission for a second reading.
