Shame, their is no transit system shown in the renderings.
no one thinks about transportation , with all honesty there should be a metro mover extending north to midtown and design district
Actually, a lot of people have thought about transit to midtown. There have been proposals for metromover and streetcars, there just is not any money yet for it.
They will soon be starting a new trolley to midtown as a stopgap measure.
Langbro, that's the Second Saturdays Trolley to Wynwood and Midtown, right? If it's successful, they said they would expand service to every weekend, but didn't say anything about weekday service. Have you heard anything else?
Miami Trolley Ridership On Brickell Exceeds Expectations, Expansion to Midtown Coming Soon
Pilot program coming to Midtown and Wynwood this July
(Miami, FL May 25, 2012) — City of Miami Commissioner Marc D. Sarnoff is proud to announce that ridership on the recently launched Brickell Trolley route has exceeded expectations and that a pilot program will be launched in July that will bring the trolley to Midtown and parts of Wynwood.
Trolley ridership along Brickell Ave. and Biscayne Blvd. is three times expected levels, according to the City of Miami Capital Improvements Program (CIP), which runs the trolley. Because of the unprecedented demand for trolley service an additional route will launch July 14, and thereafter every second Saturday of the month, to coincide with the Wynwood Art Walk. The new route will connect Brickell and Downtown with Midtown and Wynwood.
“We were confident that the Brickell trolley would be popular with residents and visitors, and it has been,” Commissioner Sarnoff said. “With the expansion to Midtown and Wynwood we will finally make a reality our initial vision of bridging these neighborhoods together.”
CIP Director Albert Sosa says that if demand on the new Midtown route meets expectations the City would consider running the route every Saturday with the goal of regularizing daily service by the beginning of 2013.

I wish they would open up midtown to NE 2nd street though. At least 1-2 streets. It's do inconvenient to have to go around. There are nearby restaurants and lounges there that are completely disconnected from midtown.
I think the surrounding area would benefit more if it didn't seem so insular. Especially bridging the gap from midtown to edgewater. On the west side of midtown though, there are shops and clubs that have opened up or have been renovated to complement it.
I would love to see more connectivity with the design district too and their planned shops. I drove by there today. It shouldn't be so hard. The only thing separating the two districts is the one small block under I-195. Hopefully tenents will occupy those buildings soon. Can't wait to see what is finally done with Soho Lounge.
Steven Gretenstein from DACRA has said that they are looking into installing a crosswalk between Midtown and the Design District, so that might help some.
