UPDATE 1/10/2013: After much debate, the Miami commission has voted to allow Ultra to be held over two weekends in 2013. _______________ Earlier: The City of Miami commission is set to consider a resolution on Thursday (1/10/2013) that could disrupt plans to hold Ultra Music Festival at Bayfront Park over two weekends. If passed, the resolution could divest Bayfront Park Management Trust of the authority to permit the festival to take place at the park over two weekends, citing disruptions to downtown workers and residents. It is unclear whether the Miami commission has the legal authority over the Trust to stop the event from taking place, and Ultra could still be held elsewhere in the city. In previous years Ultra has been held over one weekend. Organizers recently announced a plan to expand it to two weekends beginning in 2013.

So apparently the City of Miami's email servers crashed as a result of the petition. You think they got the message? From EDMsnob's twitter.
Looks like some reps from the cruise ship industry complained too: http://forum.talknightlife.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=21059&start=10#p179696
This news story was picked up by Miami Today, Miami Herald and many other sources around the world after we reported on it. Mayor Regalado is quoted today in the Miami Herald agreeing with Sarnoff that one weekend of Ultra is enough. http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/01/09/3174955/city-commissioner-add-100-officers.html
