    FORT LAUDERDALE—
In a city where the car is practically worshipped, are drivers ready to leave their wheels behind and catch the Wave?

After years of planning, Fort Lauderdale is on track to join cities like Portland, Ore., Denver and Tampa with its own fixed-rail downtown electric streetcar system. Next month, officials hope to get federal clearance on the project's environmental impact, making it eligible for federal money for design and construction.

Well that should come as no surprise as the Cato Institute is against any and all government spending.

Because we don't have the money, stop the spending period.
  9. This is a terrible idea. What a waste, all this will do is allow fat bankers and lawyers the ability to not burn calories when moving around to get lunch. We need a legit light rail system down here that moves east west from downtown to the sawgrass mall. You can connect to many things from there like the convention center and airport all while connecting the exact group of people who will use it, the PEOPLE.

Oh I'm sorry, people are not gonna give up their cars.
