The first ridership numbers for the new $500 million Metrorail orange line serving Miami International Airport have been released. The new station opened on July 28. July 2012 Metrorail passengers at Miami International Airport - validated: Sunday 7/29: 2,091 Monday 7/30: 2,360 Tuesday 7/31: 2,325 August numbers are not yet validated, but are said to be running at approximately 1,850 passengers per day through the first few weeks of the month. The figures include both boardings and alightings. Miami-Dade transit has said that a 'ramp-up" period of at least six months will be necessary to evaluate whether ridership statistics will meet forecasts.
