The U.S. General Services Administration is looking to reposition Miami’s David W. Dyer Federal Courthouse.

The 1.6-acre property has not been in use since 2008 when tenants relocated to the newly completed Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. U.S. Courthouse.

Dyer Federal Courthouse was constructed in 1933 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Spanish-Mediterranean revival building is 179,000 gross square feet.

This makes all the sense in the world.

I've always wished someone turned the MD Downtown Campus into a School on par with NYU it would be such a great thing for the neighborhood. you know on campus housing less cars more walk-ability 24 hour street presence and security etc.

There was some recent discussion that the bankruptcy court would move from their building at 51 SW 1st to this location. I think some of the building is already built-out as courtrooms. However, alternately, they may end up moving to a different federal building near the jail. Still kind of in the discussion stages as far as I know.

This is the best solution provided the college promises to keep it in pristine condition because the interior is literally a work of art. It could easily become the School for Pre-Law and Law Enforcement.
  8. Has MDC ever considered building a dorm building at the Wolfson Campus? With 175,000, I'm sure more than a few would be interested in living close to class and in Downtown.
