Rumor is that the Aiport Director will announce the details of this project at State Of The Ports in mid-February.

Looks like Cuban exile politics will kill the project:

Florida Governor Rick Scott announced today on Radio Mambí that he will sign HB959, banning governments from contracting firms with business ties to Cuba.

This law will probably end plans for Airport City at MIA, since it is being proposed by Odebrecht which does work in Cuba.

    So this thing's dead?

    Probably.

There is almost no chance that the County would approve this now that they have discovered Odebrecht's work in Cuba.

There were other companies interested in building this project when it was originally bid out, but that would mean starting over from scratch - it took years of planning to get to this point.

This project sounds nice, but i think they should priotirize the centrL terminal redevelopment first. That terminal is approaching 60 years old, and the airport hotel is such an eyesore. Once they do that, then MIA would be complete.
