This summer, Miami Today moved out of their headquarters, situated on prime Brickell Avenue land.

The property is directly adjacent to the Brickell CityCentre project.

Heard some chatter about this recently. Anyone else?

Musibay is reporting that Nothern Trust plans to sell its building at 700 Brickell and move next to door to 600 Brickell.

Swire already owns a portion of the block - this could be a good way for them to get frontage on brickell avenue.

It'd be a huge shame to see the Miami Today building go. It's a beautiful little building. This would be a great opportunity (along with the old bars near Tobacco Road) to mix older architecture with contemporary architecture.

Walking by today and saw this building be demolished from the back to the front. Should be totally demolished this afternoon. Sad sight and wish my camera phone was working today.

Wow! That is so sad. Such a beautiful building demolished. Developers can't build on all the vacant lots they've created over the years before destroying more buildings to create more vacant lots.

The Miami Today Building was always an icon of an older Brickell.

How old was this building? All of this seemed to happen very quickly and without much notice...I wonder if this was done on purpose to get past any potential preservationist concerns?

Good riddance and hopefully the rest of the buildings on that block go down as well, to make way for city centre brickell avenue frontage
